ACOG’s Pregnancy and Heart Disease 20XX Practice Bulletin includes a level C recommendation that: “All women should be assessed for cardiovascular disease in the antepartum and postpartum periods using the California Improving Health Care Response to Cardiovascular Disease in Pregnancy and Postpartum toolkit algorithm.” ACOG recognizes the Standing Committee’s concerns related to the availability of the evidence, and encourages reconsideration of the measure as soon as additional evidence is available.

The American Medical Association (AMA) continues to have concerns with the low minimum measure score reliability result, the lack of adequate testing and adjustment for social risk factors, and the relatively limited amount of variation demonstrating such small differences in performance scores. We believe that these concerns must be addressed before endorsement is continued.
