This measure identifies the percentage of patients with chronic Hepatitis C (HCV) who began HCV antiviral therapy during the measurement year and had HCV Viral Load testing 6 months prior to initiation of antiviral therapy.

Patients in the denominator who had an HCV Viral Load test 6 months prior to the initiation of antiviral therapy.
DenominatorOur denominator is anyone with Hepatitis C diagnosed anytime in the past, based on historical claims on file, who have a new start of peginterferon in the last year, excluding people with documentation of a medical reason(s) for not performing quantitative HCV RNA testing within 6 months prior to initiation of treatment (CPT Category II code 3218F-1P).
ExclusionsExclude anyone with a code which states the patient has a medical reason for not having the test done.
