Measure Description

The following components of this measure assess the management of urinary incontinence in older adults.

- Discussing Urinary Incontinence. The percentage of Medicare members 65 years of age and older who reported having urine leakage in the past six months and who discussed their urinary leakage problem with a health care provider.

- Treatment of Urinary Incontinence. The percentage of Medicare members 65 years of age and older who reported having urine leakage in the past six months and who treatment options for their current urine leakage problem.

- Impact of Urinary Incontinence. The percentage of Medicare members 65 years of age and older who reported having urine leakage in the past six months and who reported that urine leakage made them change their daily activities or interfered with their sleep a lot.

    Numerator

    1) Discussing Urinary Incontinence: The number of members in denominator 1 who indicated they discussed their urinary incontinence with a health care provider.

    2) Treatment of Urinary Incontinence: The number of members in denominator 2 who indicated they discussed treatment options for their urinary incontinence with a health care provider.

    3) Impact of Urinary Incontinence: The number of members in denominator 3 who indicated that urine leakage made them change their daily activities or interfered with their sleep a lot.

    Denominator

    1) Discussing Urinary Incontinence: Medicare members 65 years of age and older who reported having any urinary incontinence in the past six months.

    2) Treatment of Urinary Incontinence: Medicare members 65 years of age and older who reported having any urinary incontinence in the past six months.

    3) Impact of Urinary Incontinence: Medicare members 65 years of age and older who reported having any urinary incontinence in the past six months.

    Exclusions

    Patients who did not have a doctor’s visit in the last year or who reported they did not have a problem with UI, are excluded.
