Exclusions
•Received in transfer from another acute care or critical access hospital, including another emergency department
•No working diagnosis of pneumonia at the time of admission
•Receiving comfort measures only4 above
•Do not receive antibiotics during the hospitalization or within 36 hours (2160 minutes) from the time of hospital arrival
•18 years of age
•Received antibiotics within 24 hours prior to hospital arrival
•Involved in protocols or clinical trials
•No chest x-ray or CT scan that indicated positive infiltrate within 24 hours prior to hospital arrival or anytime during this hospitalization
