1.3 Measure Description

This measure identifies adult patients newly diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis during the first 8 months of the measurement year who received erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) or C-reactive protein (CRP) lab tests either 4 months (3 months + 1-month grace period) before or after the initial diagnosis.

        • 1.14 Numerator

Patients in the denominator who had an ESR or CRP lab test either 4 months before or after the initial rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis date

        • 1.15 Denominator

Patients >=18 years old newly diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis during the first 8 months of the measurement year

        • Exclusions

The measure excludes patients who have had an inpatient hospitalization 4 months before and after the initial rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis because UB04 claims do not document individual lab tests ordered during an inpatient stay.
