The Medicare Spending Per Beneficiary – Post Acute Care Measure for Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (MSPB-PAC IRF) was developed to address the resource use domain of the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation Act of 2014 (IMPACT Act). This resource use measure is intended to evaluate each IRF’s efficiency relative to that of the national median IRF. Specifically, the measure assesses Medicare spending by the IRF and other healthcare providers during an MSPB episode.

This resource use measure is intended to evaluate each LTCH’s efficiency relative to that of the national median LTCH. Specifically, the measure assesses Medicare spending by the LTCH and other healthcare providers during an MSPB episode.

This measure assesses the number of staphylococcal and gram negative septicemias or bacteremias in high-risk newborns. This measure is a part of a set of five nationally implemented measures that address perinatal care (PC-01: Elective Delivery, PC-02: Cesarean Birth, PC-03: Antenatal Steroids, PC-05: Exclusive Breast Milk Feeding; Beginning 1/1/2019 PC-06 Unexpected Complications in Term Newborns will be added).
PC-05 assesses the rate of newborns exclusively fed breast milk during the newborn´s entire hospitalization. Perioperative hemorrhage or hematoma cases involving a procedure to treat the hemorrhage or hematoma, following surgery per 1,000 surgical discharges for patients ages 18 years and older. Excludes cases with a diagnosis of coagulation disorder; cases with a principal diagnosis of perioperative hemorrhage or hematoma; cases with a secondary diagnosis of perioperative hemorrhage or hematoma present on admission; cases where the only operating room procedure is for treatment of perioperative hemorrhage or hematoma; obstetric cases.
